Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2707

The membership of the VFW is made up of men and women who have served their country honorably in overseas engagements for which a campaign badge or medal has been authorized by the United States government.

The VFW is very active working legislatively for Veterans benefits and rights. Through VFW "community activities", posts bring life to their slogan, "Honor the dead by helping the living." By "Americanism" activities the organization seeks to strengthen good citizenship and appreciation of the Nation�s heritage. Other programs are safety youth activities, buddy poppies, EMT and teacher recognition.

Locally Northwood VFW gives fifty dollars monthly to the local food pantry. They sponsored furnishing a remodeled room at the nursing home for $3600.00. It gives a scholarship to a graduating senior, makes many other school donations, sponsors the Voice of Democracy and Youth Essay programs, Organizes and presents a Veterans Day program, and has a honor guard for Veteran funerals.

The Northwood VFW Post 2707 was organized in 1977. Meetings are held the 3rd Tuesday of the month from October through April at 7:00pm at the American Legion building. The dues are $20.00 annually.
